BeShayBE Artist Spotlight

1. Can you introduce yourself and tell us what you do as an artist/creator?
I’m a multi-faceted creative strategist and storyteller. My work weaves together audio, visual art, writing, and community building. I create affirmations, podcasts, AI-driven visuals, and brand systems that help people see themselves in new, empowering ways. At the core, I’m about turning lived experiences—joy, grief, love, and resilience—into art that others can feel and use.

2. How long have you been practicing your craft?
Honestly, all my life. I’ve been writing and creating since I was young, but in the past few years I’ve leaned into it intentionally as my path—not just a hobby, but a purpose and a business.

3. What’s your favorite accomplishment in your creative field so far?
Creating the Am I Being Punished? affirmation series and transforming it into multiple formats—podcast, digital products, and decks—has been huge for me. It’s work that came straight from my healing, but also gave others words and rituals to ground themselves. That’s the balance I love: deeply personal and widely useful.

4. What’s one lesson you’ve learned that you think every new creative should know?
Consistency and clarity matter more than perfection. Don’t wait until you feel “ready” or like your idea is flawless. Start where you are, share your work, and refine as you grow. Your creativity is a living process, not a finished product.

5. Who is a Columbus creative that has inspired you?
Nichole Burton, my mentor. She’s been a guide, a mirror, and a push when I’ve needed it. Watching her build, teach, and create with such integrity inspires me to step fully into my own vision.

6. What is your favorite art medium or way of expressing yourself?
That’s a hard one because I cross mediums so much, but audio is my heart. Whether it’s a poem recorded raw, a Suno song experiment, or a podcast episode, there’s something about voice and sound that carries intimacy and power you can’t fake.

7. How do you hope your work impacts your community or audience?
I want people to feel seen and resourced. For someone to say, “That affirmation carried me through,” or “That design made me believe in my idea again,” means I did my job. My art is a blueprint for resilience and a mirror for self-love.

8. What’s next for you in your creative journey?
I’m building an ecosystem of projects—Rolling Deep podcast, creative decks, digital shops, collaborative events—that all feed into each other. My next step is to scale what I’ve built, while keeping it aligned and intentional.

I love this! As a life-long fan of BeShayBE and a witness of her transformation as an “artivist” (artist and activist), I can truly attest to the fact that her impact and influence in the city of Columbus runs far and deep and the words captured in this spotlight is 100% truth! I’m looking forward to the global takeover that is simmering right underneath the surface of this new and exciting life chapter! Thank you BeShayBE… Keep up the good work! You are destined for GREATNESS!
