1. Tell us what you do as an artist and creator?
I’m an author and poetess curating a monthly poetry event that celebrates the art of voice. My work extends into the community, where I use poetry to teach, uplift, and guide young women as they discover their power and place in the world.
2. How long have you practiced your craft?
I've been practicing my craft for 27 years. However, I started to take my poetic literary works more seriously 2 years ago.
3. What's your favorite accomplishment in your creative field?
My favorite accomplishment is curating a monthly poetry event that ran successfully for a full year. It taught me that the rhythm of business, much like poetry, has its highs and lows, but perseverance, adaptability, and vision can turn passion into something lasting and impactful.
4. What is something you learned, you feel new creatives should know?
I’ve come to trust myself beyond measure. To honor my vision, my "why", and my purpose as uniquely my own. Learning to bring my inner intentions into harmony with my real-world actions was a challenge that shaped me deeply. Trust your vision; it’s the one thing in life that belongs entirely to you.
5. Who is a Columbus creative who has inspired you?
Goodlife!! I must give you your flowers, Mr. Russell. It’s a beautiful thing to see someone navigating life with autistic constraints while also being a father, youth coach, public speaker, and visionary whose purpose can’t be dimmed by circumstance.
You were built to shine light where others see limits, to break barriers yet untouched and to prove that even with more on your plate, dreams are still possible. You’re the reminder that purpose outshines every obstacle.
6. What is your favorite art medium?
I’m not sure if writing alone qualifies as a medium, but it’s the one I can’t resist. I love words that hit with meaning, whether structured into a stanza or flowing as verses on a track. It’s the wordplay that excites me. Crafting language to express art, life, and everything in between.
